The IMCA 2011 Annual Medal Award was made to John Moloney Group Managing Director of Glanbia plc on July 5th at a breakfast function in a Dublin hotel. The award was made in recognition of Glanbia’s achievement in developing from origins in the local Irish co-operative movement to current strong positions in key food markets and sectors around the world, and John's role in this as Group Managing Director over the past ten years.
In presenting the award Tony O’Brien, President of IMCA, stated that the agri-food sector is one of the key drivers for Ireland’s economic recovery and much needed export-led growth. He said the sector can make an enormous contribution to Ireland’s recovery and that Glanbia is likely to be at the forefront of this.
In accepting the award, John Moloney thanked IMCA for recognising Glanbia and its journey of transformation. He said he has been privileged to lead a great team in implementing this transformational journey for Glanbia over the last ten years.
The medal award recognises outstanding achievement that has led to demonstrable enterprise and innovation with lasting impact in a particular sector. It is now in place over 20 years with a distinguished list of recipients, including Mary McAleese the current President of Ireland. It has been presented on an all-island basis, in conjunction with the Institute of Consulting in Northern Ireland, since 2007.
