Management Consulting was introduced to China at the beginning of the 80’s in 20th Century. Being a member of the first batch of consultants who went through a systemic management consulting training program, I had devoted myself to management consulting services for over 20 years. The many years’ work let me accumulate abundant of practice experiences and strong affection to this profession. At the same time, I realized that the future of this industry needs proper guidance. After being authorized by the China Enterprise Confederation (CEC), the Management Consulting Committee (MCC) was set up, and began to undertake the management work for this industry. Our organization was growing along with the development of the management consulting industry in China. Through serious efforts, we have made some contributions in enabling the healthy development of this industry in China:
1. Through the tireless efforts of our team, and the rigorous assessment of the China Ministry of Personnel, management consultant was formally incorporated into the national vocational qualification series for professional and technical personnel in September 2005. Following that, a national certification system of professional qualification for management consultant in China was established.
2. We orgazied the China Management Consulting Summit, in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009; organized the International Consultants Day celebration in June 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. Meanwhile, MCC of CEC has published twice a book on “CMC Case Studies”. We accelerated the communication among CMCs and between CMCs and entrepreneurs through activities like Consulting Salons.
3. We are also actively supporting ICMCI activities : such as the hosting of the ICMCI Asia Hub meeting in 2009 in Chongqing, and sending delegates to ICMCI meetings, such as 2006 in Moscow, 2008 in Singapore, 2010 in Jordan, and 2011 in Taipei. These efforts have added much to the understanding and communication among the CMCs worldwide with China.
All the above information just illustrates parts of our work in promoting Management Consulting industry in China. We all hope this industry will further develop and flourish in future. In front of us, there is a heavy responsibility and a long way to go. The Meridian Order Award is a recognition of the past work of not only myself but also my team. We promise this is not only a conclusion of the past but also a beginning of another historical period and continuing effort.
