The 72nd Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management was held in Boston, Massachusetts, from August 3 to 7. It is one of the largest gathering of management and organization academics and professionals who are passionate about their work, research, teaching and knowledge in the field of management. The Academy’s mission is to build a vibrant and supportive community by markedly expanding opportunities to connect and explore ideas and this spirit was embodied in the annual conference. The 72nd Annual Meeting Theme was “The Informal Economy” and celebrated the work of over 11,000 attendees (mainly academics representing universities and business schools) from 77 countries. This year 25 Austrian consultants attended the Annual Meeting, which was organized by the IMC Austria, and used the opportunity to broaden their knowledge.
In order to promote the professionalism of the Management Consulting industry together with the CMC certification, ICMCI considers the world of business schools and universities as key stakeholder. ICMCI took advantage of the opportunity to attend the Business Meeting of the Management Consulting Division (MCD), one the oldest divisions within the Academy of Management. Francesco D'Aprile, ICMCI Chair and Ilse Ennsfellner, ICMCI Vice Chair, met the Board of the Management Consulting Division in order to explore possibilities for collaboration. Francesco highlighted in his speech the benefits of ICMCI for the MCD members and offered co-operation in various fields. The ICMCI project "Links to Academia" is a perfect start; the next AOM conference in Orlando in Aug 2013 is the target floor for further joint activities.
