IMCB has organized a national seminar titled “From Bottomless Basket to a Middle Income Economy: a Journey towards Enhanced Competitiveness” on January 7, 2013. The Honorable Minister for Commerce of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr. Ghulam Muhammed Quader, Member of Parliament graced the session as the Chief Guest. The keynote paper was presented in the seminar by Dr.ANM Waheeduzzaman, Professor of Marketing and International Business, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, USA where he emphasized the following issues:
• Global Competitiveness Index of World Economic Forum
• A Model of International Competitiveness
• Evaluation of Bangladesh based on the Model
• How Bangladesh can enhance her competitiveness addressing the relevant factors.
Dr. Zahid Hussain, Senior Economist, the World Bank, Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Executive Director, CPD, Dr. Osman Imam, Professor, Department of Finance, Dhaka University were the Designated Discussants in the seminar.
IMCB Chairman Prof. Dr. Rahim B. Talukdar chaired the seminar and IMCB President, M. Zakir Hossain made welcome remarks. About 120 management consultants, eminent academicians, business leaders, top executives of banks and FIs, economists, government bureaucrats, civil society representatives and media professionals and economic reporters attended the seminar.
The President of IMC Bangladesh, Mr. M. Zakir Hossain held a follow-up meeting with the Deputy Country Representative, Mr. Stefan Ekeland and Focal Point of Private Sector Development, Mr. Zillur Rahman of Asian Development Bank on January 29, 2013 and discussed on the possibility of collaborative programs with the Bank in several areas including skill development. The IMCB President requested ADB to consider IMCB as one of the stakeholders from the private sector in this effort and also to involve the Institute on the national development agenda where the members of the Institute can contribute and thereby strengthen efforts in alleviation of poverty.
The Executive Committee of IMCB has formed several Committees including CMC Certification Committee to expedite CMC certification process in the near future.

IMC Bangladesh is also conducting its 6th Post Graduate Diploma Course on Management Consulting (PgDMC) for enhancing the management consultancy services which commenced from November 3, 2012. Eighteen Participants have been enrolled in this course and the Certificate Awarding Ceremony will be in March 2013.
