ICMCI Asia Pacific Hub Meeting 2013 in Thailand
The Institute of Management Consultants of Thailand (IMC Thailand or IMCT) has recently hosted the 2013 ICMCI annual Asia-Pacific Hub Meeting (April 25 - 27) in Bangkok. Thailand was honored to be selected as the venue for this international conference. The topic of the conference was the readiness of the management consulting firms to enter the AEC. Recommendations were made on reinforcing cooperation and building network among the international management consulting firms to be capable of working at the regional level effectively. There were almost 60 members and non-members from the region joined the event.
Mr. Francesco D’Aprile, President of ICMCI, stated, “ICMCI is like the central organization surrounded by the management consulting firms around the world. ICMCI oversees and develops the standard, while controlling quality and ethics so that the certified management consulting firms can be internationally recognized and perform their consultancy to various businesses effectively. This year we have selected Thailand as the venue for our annual conference as we see the potentials in the changes in entering AEC which will occur very soon. We sincerely hope that this annual international conference will strengthen the work of the management consulting firms in Thailand and in this region.”
Mr Chayaditt Hutanuwatra, Chairman of IMCT, further indicated, “Recently, many management consulting firms worldwide have contacted IMCT, with interest in a joint-venture or partnership with our member firms. In the coming years of AEC, there will be more and more demand in management consulting firms to consult on the change management and how to cope with the growing market effectively. Therefore, the management consulting firms should aim for the certification, as well as the networking with other members in various countries in the region for the benefits in cross-cultural understanding and more which are vital to our work. The integration and synergy will enable the small firms to take big projects. Moreover, the management consulting firms can definitely assist the SMEs to expand their businesses into ASEAN”
We started our event with Welcome Reception to get all delegates to know each other with warm and friendly atmosphere. Our Chairman gave some briefs about Thailand and IMCT structure. Our one-and-a half day meeting was kicked off with special key note speech on “Tapping Opportunities from ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)” by Assoc.Prof.Dr.Somjai Phagaphasvivat, experienced academic and honorable consultant to both governmental and private sectors. Meanwhile, we had also discussed on opportunities arising from ASEAN and its new role for business and consulting.
Through several sessions of panel discussion we had learned from other IMCs experiences, shared of IMCs and ICMCI good practices and initiatives, as well as explored collaboration among IMCs.
Of course, all delegates not only obtained useful information in consultant profession from the meeting, but also had a chance to meet and network with guests from governmental sectors, major consultancy players from various business sectors and other stakeholders, as well as enjoy Thai-touch, splendid and joyful Cultural Gala Dinner we meticulously organized for all delegates.
