Global Institute of Management Consultants (GIMC), created by the ICMCI Breakthrough Strategy, is a virtual Institute for management consultants located in countries where national Institutes of Management Consulting (IMCs) do not exist. Any management consultant who would like to be a member of the professional management consulting profession and attain the CMC designation should be able to do so, even though there is not an IMC in their country. Membership in GIMC is not available to individuals who are resident in, or a citizen of, a country with an existing International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) recognized IMC.
Under this agreement, major aspects of the day-to-day work of GIMC will be outsourced to the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CMC-Canada) for a three-year term. Prior to the commencement of the Term of this Agreement, ICMCI will determine how to operate the GIMC. A formal legal structure, including an Operating Board will be created. ICMCI will award provisional membership status to GIMC prior to the start of this Agreement.
CMC-Canada was approached by ICMCI as it has the capacity and processes already in place to manage the membership and certification processing for an additional 100 GIMC members per year. The three-year term of this Agreement should allow sufficient time for ICMCI and GIMC to determine how GIMC will operate following the termination of this Agreement.
By offering itself as a service provider to GIMC, CMC-Canada is willing to assist ICMCI/GIMC with both verification of its proof of concept: that management consultants in non-IMC countries want to become Certified Management Consultants; and act as an incubator for groups of management consultants in non-IMC countries as they grow the profession and designation, eventually forming a recognized IMC.
