and EBRD (the European Bank for reconstruction and Development) held their joint conference “Management Consultancy - Innovating your Business” Nov 14, 2014. The event took place at Howard Johnson Hotel, in the Iridium Hall, starting from 9am.
The conference gathered over 80 participants from different fields of activity: consultants, representatives of SMEs, beneficiaries of management consulting services and representatives from different Romanian professional associations. We are glad that Ms. Reema Nasser, the executive director of ICMCI, was present at the conference.
The event was moderated by Mr. Sorin Caian, AMCOR’s President, together with Ms. Daniela Marin, National Program Manager, EBRD Small Business Support.
Ms. Daniela Marin opened the conference with the presentation “Professional advice for Romanian small businesses - EBRD Small Business Support”.
This program is very important because it sustains consultancy projects for the SMEs in fields such as: marketing, environment, IT solutions, financial management and many others.
The EBRD representative also presented the impact of the Small Business Support Program in Romania stressing that 72% of the program beneficiaries register an increase in turnover, with an average of 26%, 12% of companies have accessed external funding, with a total sum of 17.3 million euro, 62% of beneficiary companies registered a productivity growth, on average by 8% growth, 61% of beneficiary companies registered an increase of the number of employees, a total number of 264 new jobs were created.
The second presentation of the event tried to present a recipe of success by presenting the story behind the creation of Neuromed brand, the most important Romanian Imagistic Center. The story was delivered to the audience by Mr. Mihai Bocai, Business Development Director at Telliso, together with Mr. Lucian Florea, General Director at Neuromed. The main ingredients of success in this case were: the ability of the client to be open to innovation and new, the capacity of the consultant to understand the context, an online presence capable to educate the client, the optimization of the searching engine, social media, the quality content for the website, the training sessions in the field of sales, marketing and, above all, a great business relationship between the client and the management consultant.
The third presentation of the conference was that of Mr. Mihai Svasta, member of AMCOR’s Board and representative of ICG Integrated Consulting Group, who discussed with the participants the role of the European Standard EN 16114 in the professionalization of the Romanian consultancy market stressing the importance of using such a tool in the relationship between consultants and their clients.
Another presentation was sustained by Mr. Constantinos Stavropoulos who decided to discuss the theme “Innovating Strategically. Sailing your CMC Milestones” in a quite unique way, by creating a comparison between the journey to Ithaca and the CMC certification process.
The fifth presentation of the event was sustained by Mr. Mihai Svasta who tried to explain the role of innovation in everyday business. Among the concepts discussed were: the innovation systems diagnosis, the opportunity to identify new ideas, the idea generation and management idea. He concluded his presentation with the sentence “Innovation makes money out of knowledge”.
“Innovation and its Repression” was the main theme of Mr. Brian Ing’s presentation. He talked about the reluctance of people to conduct business process re-engineering and also business innovation.
The 1-day event ended with a brief interactive session of discussions on topics such as:
- “Access to finance for business innovation”;
- “Getting the most out of business advice”;
- “EBRD corner – Q&A Small Business Support”; and
- AMCOR corner – “Q&A Management consultancy in Romania”.
