ICMCI

Management Consulting
The rendering of independent advice and assistance about the process of management to clients with management responsibilities.
Management Consultant
An individual who provides independent advice and assistance about the process of management to clients with management responsibilities.
Professional Management Consultant
A management consultant who views management consulting as a profession, who strives for self-improvement in the process of both management and management consulting and who subscribes to the code of ethics of a professional body of management consultants.
Certified Management Consultant
A professional management consultant who meets the relevant requirements of character, qualifications, experience, competence and independence established by the professional body issuing certification.
CMC

CMC Directory
An international listing of CMCs giving their
profile, areas of consulting practice, articles written and contact information.
Member Institute
A national association or institute of individual management consultants that has qualified and been accepted for regular or provisional membership in the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes.
Provisional Member
A member institute of ICMCI which has not yet fulfilled all the requirements of regular membership. (See Requirements for Provisional Membership).
Council
The governing body of ICMCI consisting of the Officers of ICMCI and national
representatives of member institutes.
Congress
The biennial conference of voting members of Council, held in odd-numbered years
Representative to Council
A voting representative appointed by his or her national institute to represent it on the ICMCI
Council. Member institutes are entitled to the number of voting representatives as follows:

The main responsibilities of a Representative to Council are:
- To elect officers to the Executive Committee
- To attend and vote at the biennial ICMCI Congress
- To make the views of their national council known to the ICMCI Council.
- To report ICMCI matters to their national council
- To act as a communications channel between ICMCI and their national membership
- To participate in task forces and working parties of ICMCI
Executive Committee
ICMCI elected officers including the Chairman, all Vice Chairmen, Secretary, Treasurer, and immediate Past Chairman. These individuals sit on Council but do not normally represent their Member Institutes as Representatives to Council. The ICMCI Executive Secretary is a non-voting, ex-officio member of the Executive Committee.
Hubs
A regional sub-set of ICMCI member institutes.
Executive Director of Member Institute
The senior administrative officer of a member institute. Executive directors are members of the Executive Directors Committee. An executive director who has a CMC may also serve as a Representative to Council or Alternate Representative.
Executive Directors Committee
Senior administrative officers of all national institutes. In some cases these may be given the title of President or Executive Administrator. For the purposes of this web site, they are also included as Executive Director. The role of this committee is to facilitate interchange between the executive offices of member associations and the exchange of best practices.
National Chairman (of a member institute)
The chief elected officer of a member institute. Chairmen of member institutes are members of the Institute Chairmen Committee. They may also serve concurrently as their national institute's Representative to Council.
National Chair's Council
The senior elected representative of every member institute. The role of this committee is to facilitate interchange between the top elected leaders of member associations.
Advisory Board
Former Representatives to Council, former Executive Committee members who remain active participants without portfolio, and other members of national institutes whose participation in ICMCI is evidenced by their listing in the Directory at this web site.
ICMCI Correspondent
A representative of a non-member institute or an individual recognized by ICMCI as having a beneficial relationship with ICMCI. Such individuals may from time to time be invited as guests of Council to Council meetings.
Guest of Council
Members in good standing of member institutes, Advisory Board members, and designated ICMCI Correspondents. Guests of Council are welcome to participate in Council meetings without vote.
Participant
Any person in any of the above capacities, whose ICMCI activity is recognized by a listing in the ICMCI Directory at this web site.
